- Disclaimer for JSA Mental Health Consultants
- JSA Mental Health Consultants (operating as or in connection with YouthSafe Education Services LLC) provides educational services, training programs, curricula, and resources focused on suicide prevention, mental health awareness, resilience building, and related topics for school staff, students ages 10–18, and school communities. Our programs are designed to support compliance with
Mississippi state requirements, including the Jason Flatt Act and the Mississippi School Safety Act of 2019, which mandate suicide
prevention and mental health training for school personnel.
- Important Limitations and Disclaimers:
- 1. Educational Purpose Only
- All materials, trainings, workshops, digital platforms, and consultations provided by JSA Mental Health Consultants are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not intended to serve as medical advice, psychological counseling,
clinical diagnosis, treatment, or therapy. Our services do not replace professional mental health care, crisis intervention, or
individualized clinical assessment.
- 2. No Guarantee of Outcomes
- While our programs are based on evidence-based practices (such as those aligned with national guidelines from organizations like the CDC, AFSP, and SAMHSA), participation in our training or curricula does not guarantee the prevention of suicide, selfharm, or any mental health crisis. Suicide prevention is complex, and individual outcomes depend on many factors beyond any educational program. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the effectiveness of our services in preventing suicide or improving specific mental health results.
- 3. Crisis Situations
- If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or is in immediate danger, do not rely on our materials or services. Instead:
- Call 911 immediately for emergencies
- Contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (available 24/7 by calling or texting 988)
- Reach out to local mental health professionals, school counselors, or emergency services. Our programs may reference the 988 Lifeline and other resources, but we are not a crisis hotline or emergency response service.
- 4. Scope of Services
- JSA Mental Health Consultants delivers general awareness training, gatekeeper skills (e.g., recognizing warning signs and
referring to help), student resilience modules, postvention guidance, and compliance support tools. We do not provide direct
counseling, ongoing therapy, or personalized mental health treatment. Any screening or referral tools are voluntary and designed
to facilitate connections to qualified professionals (such as Community Mental Health Centers in Mississippi), not to diagnose
or treat.
- 5. Compliance and Local Requirements
- Our services aim to help schools meet Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) and Department of Mental Health (DMH)
guidelines for suicide prevention policies and training. However, it is the responsibility of each school district to ensure full
compliance with all applicable laws, select appropriate coordinators, report training as required, and implement local policies.
JSA does not assume liability for a district’s overall compliance or safety plan.
- 6. Limitation of Liability
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, JSA Mental Health Consultants, its owners, trainers, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of our services, materials, or recommendations. This includes, but is not limited to, any outcomes related to student or staff mental health, incidents of self-harm, or suicide.
- 7. No Endorsement
- References to third-party resources, organizations (e.g., 988 Lifeline, evidence-based programs), or research do not constitute an endorsement of JSA by those entities, nor do they imply that JSA is endorsed by them.
- By engaging with our services, schools, staff, students, parents, or other participants acknowledge and agree to this disclaimer. We strongly encourage all users to consult qualified mental health professionals for any personal or individual concerns.
- This disclaimer is not a substitute for legal advice. Schools and users should consult their own legal counsel regarding liability, compliance, and risk management.
